Information About

Enfield, Nova Scotia

Enfield was named in the late 19th century by Thomas Donaldson, who came not from the British Isles, but from Enfield, Connecticut . It is now primarily a bedroom community for those working in the city of Halifax , or at the nearby Halifax International Airport . Situated at the halfway point between Halifax and Truro, it was once home to a prominent railway station (now dismantled), and, in the 19th century, a system of locks on the Shubenacadie River .
