Information About

Elliott Highway

The Elliott Highway is a Highway in Alaska that extends 152 miles (245 km) from Fox , about 10 miles (16 km) north of Fairbanks , to Manley Hot Springs . It was completed in 1959 and is part of Alaska Route 2 .

This "highway" is very different to what people from the Lower 48 may be used to; specifically, all but the first 28 miles (45 km) of the highway is a two-lane gravel road that, due to conditions, generally limits travel to speeds below 45 mph (70 km/h). The highway is very rough in places, and cell phone coverage is nonexistent. Travelers should always carry emergency supplies and extra fuel when driving this highway.

The Dalton Highway begins 73 miles (118 km) north of Fox at its junction with the Elliott Highway.
