is a character from the reimagined ''
Battlestar Galactica '' series.
Ellen is the estranged wife of
Col. Saul Tigh who had believed she was killed during the
Cylon attack on the Colonies. Ellen states she had been on
Picon during the attack and was saved by an unknown hero who helped her escape aboard a transport to the ''
Rising Star ''. Ellen had remained unconsicous there and apparently overlooked by the crew of the ship. In the episode "
Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down ",
Commander Adama brings Ellen to the ''Galactica'' to Col. Tigh's astonishment.
Upon reuniting, Col. Tigh and Ellen begin a "fresh start" in their relationship, but soon both Ellen and Tigh return their old vices of alcoholism. Ellen flirts with an unwilling
Apollo and later with
Dr. Baltar to Tigh's annoyance.
Both Commander Adama and
President Roslin become suspicous with Ellen's sudden appearance and have Baltar test her blood with his new Cylon Detector. Although Baltar tells Adama and Roslin that Ellen passed the test, he lets on to
Number Six that he may have lied about Ellen's results.
In later episodes, Ellen has an occasional role. She has egged on her husband in making some of his most calamitous decisions; such as his declaring Martial Law upon the fleet after
Sharon "Boomer" Valerii's shooting of Adama, and the following Marine raids of the civilian ships that staged a supply boycott of ''Galactica''.
