Bowen is the only electorate to ever return a Communist Member, Fred Paterson , who served as member for Bowen from the 15th of April 1944 to the 29th of April 1950.

In addition, Bowen has provided the state of Queensland with 4 Attorney's General, Henry Rogers Beor (1880); Pope Alexander Cooper (1880-1883); Charles Edward Chubb (1883); and, Peter Roylance Delamothe (1963-1971).
