He ascended the throne of Arnor in T.A. 249 on the death of his father Valandil , he was the grandson of Isildur . He should not be confused with his more famous namesake, Eldacar of Gondor . His reign was without any event and he died in T.A. 339 and was succeeded by his son Arantar .
