In the mid 1940s , Hamilton became a Writer for DC Comics ' '' Superman '' title. One of his best known Superman stories was "Superman Under the Red Sun " which appeared in '' Action Comics '' #300 in 1963 and which has numerous elements in common with his Novel '' The City At World's End '' ( 1951 ). During 1946 , he Married fellow science fiction Author and Screen Writer Leigh Brackett . His unsentimental short stories "What's It Like Out There?" and "The Fan", ahead of their time, both set in the near future, de-romanticized Space Travel , in effect, criticizing much of the mythmaking of the pulp science fiction which published these and others of Hamilton's short stories. |
