Information About

Edgware Road

Certain stretches of the road are named separately, Edgware Road being used for only three of them. Kilburn High Road and Cricklewood Broadway , West Hendon Broadway , and The Hyde form four other such stretches. The road was improved by the Edgware-Kilburn turnpike trust in 1711, and a number of the local inns functioned as a stop for coaches, some which still exist.

The southernmost part of the road, south of the junction with Marylebone Road, is noted for its distinct Arab flavour. Many Lebanese Restaurant s and shisha cafes line the street.

The entire length of the road is almost dead straight, hinting at its origins as the Roman Road , Watling Street .
