The most notable event during his time was the rebuilding of the White Tower in Minas Tirith . In his honour it later became known as the White Tower of Ecthelion. Ecthelion had no children and, upon his death in 2698, Egalmoth , grandson of Orodreth's sister Morwen, succeeded him as Steward.
