The Town of Easton is located at the western border of the county. GEOGRAPHY The west town line is defined by the Hudson River with Saratoga County, New York on the opposite bank. The south town line is the border of Rensselaer County, New York . According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 163.6 Km&2 (63.2 Mi&2 ). 161.3 km&2 (62.3 mi&2) of it is land and 2.4 km&2 (0.9 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 1.44% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 2,259 people, 854 households, and 642 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 14.0/km&2 (36.3/mi&2). There were 953 housing units at an average density of 5.9/km&2 (15.3/mi&2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.54% White , 0.53% African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.09% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 0.84% from two or more races. 0.71% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 854 households out of which 33.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.5% were Married Couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% were non-families. 19.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.03. In the town the population was spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 26.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 102.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.4 males. The median income for a household in the town was $43,194, and the median income for a family was $48,947. Males had a median income of $32,428 versus $24,569 for females.
