Information About

Earache Records

EARLY HISTORY

Founded in the late eighties by Digby "Dig" Pearson , their first release, with the catalogue reference MOSH 1, was The Accused 's album ''"Return Of Martha Splatterhead"'' on Vinyl in 1987 but the first major release was Napalm Death 's '' Scum '' album. Their early releases include many albums regarded as genre-defining classics by some of Extreme Metal 's finest bands. There are also a number of sublabels, such as Wicked World Records , Elitist Records , and the short-lived Necrosis Records and Sub Bass Records . Later releases include Deicide ( 2004 ) and in 2005 California 's modern rockers Adema , who entered the USA Billboard charts top 200 in April of this year.

Earache have become inextricably linked with the Death Metal scene in particular, but also released bands like Welsh ragga-metal act Dub War as well as Nottingham's Hardcore Techno outfit, Ultraviolence, each time expanding the boundaries of extreme music, and leading the path that other labels have followed, sometimes with greater success. Earache have signed even more musically adventurous groups such as Ewigkeit in later years but still the Death Metal and Grindcore with which it made its name predominates.
