GEOGRAPHY

According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 1,597 Km&2 (617 Mi&2 ). 1,575 km&2 (608 mi&2) of it is land and 22 km&2 (8 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 1.36% water.

As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 89,143 people, 33,690 households, and 23,111 families residing in the county. The Population Density was 57/km&2 (147/mi&2). There were 35,505 housing units at an average density of 23/km&2 (58/mi&2). The racial makeup of the county was 97.07% White , 0.86% Black or African American , 0.15% Native American , 0.58% Asian , 0.09% Pacific Islander , 0.50% from Other Races , and 0.76% from two or more races. 1.19% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 33,690 households out of which 33.10% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.80% were Married Couples living together, 8.70% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.40% were non-families. 26.70% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.80% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.07.

In the county the population was spread out with 25.60% under the age of 18, 10.20% from 18 to 24, 27.20% from 25 to 44, 22.30% from 45 to 64, and 14.70% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 94.40 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.30 males.

The median income for a household in the county was $39,582, and the median income for a family was $48,742. Males had a median income of $31,977 versus $22,309 for females. The Per Capita Income for the county was $19,600. 7.80% of the population and 4.90% of families were below the Poverty Line . 7.80% of those under the age of 18 and 11.00% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
