Information AboutDown Under (song) |
|
The song is a perennial favourite on Australian radio and television, and became well known outside Australia after it was used as a theme song by the crew of the Australia II in their successful bid to win the America's Cup in 1983 . Colin Hay - the lead singer of Men at Work - had a somewhat different lyrical intention. The chorus, including phrases such as "where the men plunder" and "you better take cover" are ostensibly about the selling out of Australian interests to overseas. EXTERNAL LINKS |
