In the United Kingdom , the degree is a Higher Doctorate , above the Doctor Of Philosophy (Ph.D), and is issued by a committee on the basis of a long record of research and publication. In the United States , the degree is almost always an Honorary Degree . conferred on persons who have contributed to the Humanities . Drew University has recently begun offering the D.Litt. to persons who have successfully completed coursework and a dissertation on an interdisciplinary topic. It differs from traditional Ph.D. programs in that there are no preset language requirements or comprehensive examinations. |
