The Division of Franklin, Tasmania, Australia , is one of the 5 electorates in the Tasmanian House Of Assembly . The division was created in 1903 and is named for Sir John Franklin , the polar explorer who was Lt Governor Of Van Diemen's Land 1843 - 46 . The boundaries and name of the electorate are shared with the federal Division Of Franklin and includes outer Hobart suburbs of Kingston , Seven Mile Beach and Lauderdale but also rural towns of Huonville , Franklin , Cygnet , Margate and others. In state elections; five members are elected to Franklin through preference voting (''see Single Transferable Vote '') among these include Premier Paul Lennon . CURRENT MEMBERS IN STATE PARLIAMENT
