''Digimon Frontier'' ( 2002 ) is the 4th Digimon TV series. After receiving strange phone messages, five children go to the subway and take a train to the Digital World . Once there, they meet ''Bokomon'' and ''Neemon'' (who act as guides) and learn that the DigiWorld is in danger. They must fight the evil Cherubimon and his Evil Legendary Warrior servants before they destroy the world. In the typical Digimon fashion, it's up to the kids to save the world.

PLOT SUMMARY

The biggest feature introduced in this season is "spirit evolution", where the Digi-destined themselves evolve into digimon to become Legendary Warriors . For this special kind of evolution, they use "spirits", artifacts created by the Ancient Warriors that were hidden in certain areas of the Digital World. When the characters first arrive in the Digital World their cellphones turn into Digivices called D-Tectors . The two types of spirits are the "human spirits" and the "beast spirits." Another interesting detail lies in the way the children travel within the regions of the DigiWorld. Unlike the previous seasons, most areas are connected by railroads, where train digimon called " Trailmon " act as a means of transport.

After defeating the four Legendary Warriors that serve Cherubimon, Koji discovers that Duskmon, the fifth evil Legendary Warrior, is really his estranged brother Koichi . With Takuya's help, Koji is able to free his brother from the spirit. Afterwards the Spirits of Darkness regain their true form, and Koichi can now become the true Warrior of Darkness, Löwemon, and joins the group. After they defeat Cherubimon, the Digi-Destined learn that Lucemon , an ancient, evil, angel digimon whom the Anicent Warriors sealed away, was the one who was really behind it all. So now the Six Digi-Destined must defeat him and his two Royal Knights before they scan away all of the Digital World, which would allow Lucemon to be free.

Frontier would receive lower ratings, and thus, the series did not have a successful run. Many blame its lack of partner digimon and similarity to Sentai , however, Digimon's ratings began to fall through the end of its predeccessor, Digimon Tamers .

Other children

These are all the other children that were brought by the Trailmon but not chosen to receive a spirit. Ophanimon sent them a message asking them to go home but they chose not to. Orphanimon sent Angemon to protect them, but they thought of Angemon as their Digimon and ignored what he told them. At some point in time, they came to the Beanstalk Village, where the Mamemon gave them the last of their peas. The group planted the peas where a giant bean stalk used to be, and it grew into another beanstalk. After Angemon was killed by the Royal Knights they decided to go back to the real world, but the Royal Knights captured them and took them back to the Beanstalk Village and demanded to know where the code was. After Takuya and crew saved them, they boarded a Trailmon and went back to the real world. (These kids are rumored to be the holders of the other four spirits)

DIGITAL WORLD

The Digital World (or DigiWorld for short) is a parallel, shadow world that coexists with Earth. This is where all Digimon live.

The history of this Digital World, which lacks any explained origins for its Digimon inhabitants, is one steeped in violence. In times past, Human-type Digimon and Beast-type Digimon battled in a war against one another that threatened the world. But the day came when the angel Digimon called Lucemon , descended from the heavens and brought the war to an end, uniting the Digital World under his rule. But as the adage says, absolute power corrupts, absolutely. Lucemon became a tyrannical ruler, and ten Digimon powerful Digimon took up arms to battle and defeat him. These ten Legendary Warriors were successful in their attempt to stop Lucemon, sealing him away in the Dark Area. As time went on, with the absence of a ruler for the Digital World, three Digimon were chosen to rule – Seraphimon , Ophanimon and Cherubimon , the Celestial Digimon, who worked together to restore peace, and to safeguard the Spirits left by the deceased Legendary Warriors.
The structure of this iteration of the Digital World is somewhat different to others we have seen – while it remains comprised of data, all matter also possesses a Fractal Code, which gives the data its form. All regions of the world – each representing one of the ten elements embodied by the Legendary Warriors and their Spirits - are connected by a massive global transport system of Trailmon tracks, with each region having its own Trailmon terminal for the collection and depositing of passengers. The Digital World possesses three moons, one blue, one yellow and one red, which were dubbed the Seraphimoon, the Ophanimoon and the Cherubimoon, respectively, after the Celestial Digimon.

Eventually the time came when the Human VS Beast debate, quietly simmering under the surface over time, eventually resulted in an internal conflict in the Celestial Digimon, turning Cherubimon against his fellows when he was corrupted by Lucemon’s influence. The Digital World erupted in violence again as Cherubimon critically wounded Seraphimon and captured Ophanimon, and his minions created through the power of the Spirits in his possession.

MOVIE: ISLAND OF THE LOST DIGIMON

The last of the TV-based Digimon movies, but is not in continutiy with the show (we can deduce this thusly: Takuya becomes BurningGreymon, hence it occurs after episode 12, but Bokomon does not have Seraphimon's egg, so it's before episode 13 - but Zoe becomes Kazemon in the movie, and at this point in the series, she does not have her Spirit to enable her to do so. Hence, not in continuity). Takuya and company end up on a floating island in the middle of a civil war between human and beast Digimon, instingated by an evil Digimon named Murmuxmon . Murmuxmon was posing as the leader of each side in the war so that he could free an anicent evil - known as Ornismon - that the Ancient Warriors, AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon had defeated. The team then tries to end the war but it is too late and Ornismon is resurrected. However he is soon after defeated by the also resurrected AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon. The movie ends with the two sides finally making peace.
