The team was reportedly founded after the females formed a team after beating the men at the factory. The team drew strong crowds around the country and raised money for many servicement during the war. It also helped promote women's football around the country, and many other female teams were set up. The team also played the first women's international in 1920 , and on Boxing Day of the same year managed to draw a crowd of 53,000 spectators to watch a match at Goodison Park , Liverpool . The popularity of the team led to The Football Association at the time to ban women's football at its members grounds, due to the increasing numbers of women taking up the game. EXTERNAL LINKS
