Desmond Tremaine Mason (born October 11 1977 in Waxahachie, Texas ) is an NBA Basketball player currently playing for the New Orleans-Oklahoma City Hornets . He is designated as a Swingman , meaning he plays both Shooting Guard and Small Forward . He was drafted out of Oklahoma State University by the Seattle SuperSonics with the 17th pick of the 2000 NBA Draft . In 2003 he was traded, along with Gary Payton , to the Bucks for Ray Allen and Ronald "Flip" Murray . On October 26 2005 he was traded along with a 2006 first-round draft pick to the Hornets in exchange for Jamaal Magloire . In 2001 , he became the first Sonics player in franchise history to win the NBA Slam Dunk Contest . In addition to his skills on the court, he is an accomplished painter. |
