Derive is a Computer Algebra System , developed as a successor to MuMATH by the Soft Warehouse in Honolulu, Hawaii, now owned by Texas Instruments . Derive was implemented in MuLISP . The first release was 1988. Since Derive requires comparably little memory, it is also suitable for use on older and smaller machines. It is available for the Windows and DOS platforms and is widely used for educational purposes. The current version is Derive 6.1. The symbolic algebra technology applied in TI pocket calculators came from Derive. LITERATURE
