GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 77.5 Km&2 (29.9 Mi&2 ). 76.1 km&2 (29.4 mi&2) of it is land and 1.4 km&2 (0.5 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 1.80% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 1,464 people, 556 households, and 434 families residing in the township. The Population Density was 19.2/km&2 (49.8/mi&2). There were 642 housing units at an average density of 8.4/km&2 (21.8/mi&2). The racial makeup of the township was 99.39% White , 0.00% African American , 0.14% Native American , 0.07% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 0.41% from two or more races. 0.27% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 556 households out of which 31.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.4% were Married Couples living together, 4.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.9% were non-families. 18.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 2.94. In the township the population was spread out with 23.3% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 27.3% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 97.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.8 males. The median income for a household in the township was $35,919, and the median income for a family was $38,920. Males had a median income of $29,605 versus $21,125 for females. The Per Capita Income for the township was $16,840. 7.4% of the population and 4.1% of families were below the Poverty Line . 12.1% of those under the age of 18 and 4.1% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line. |
