Deer Park is a city located in Spokane County, Washington in the United States . As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,017.


HISTORY

Deer Park was officially incorporated on June 24 , 1908 .


GEOGRAPHY

Deer Park is located at 47°57'25" North, 117°28'13" West (47.956922, -117.470230).

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 16.6 Km&2 (6.4 Mi&2 ). 16.6 km&2 (6.4 mi&2) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the Census of 2000, there were 3,017 people, 1,105 households, and 756 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 181.7/km&2 (470.4/mi&2). There were 1,210 hoseing units at an average density of 72.9/km&2 (188.7/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 94.90% White , 0.33% African American , 1.36% Native American , 0.17% Asian , 0.07% Pacific Islander , 1.06% from Other Races , and 2.12% from two or more races. 2.42% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 1,105 households out of which 38.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.2% were Married Couples living together, 13.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.5% were non-families. 26.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.24.

In the city the population was spread out with 32.5% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 18.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 91.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $32,470, and the median income for a family was $37,820. Males had a median income of $36,326 versus $19,825 for females. The Per Capita Income for the city was $17,132. 15.1% of the population and 10.8% of families were below the Poverty Line . 17.5% of those under the age of 18 and 21.3% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
