''Dead Man's Shoes'' is a 2004 film directed and co-written by Shane Meadows . As with all of Meadows' work, it is based in the Midlands . The films stars Paddy Considine , who won an Empire Award for his performance and co-wrote the script. Featuring many first-time and non-professional actors, Considine's two sons also feature. PLOT The story revolves around the character of Richard (Considine), a Soldier returning to his small home town in the Peak District . Considine's character has returned home to exact revenge on his Mentally Disabled younger brother Anthony's ( Toby Kebell ) tormentors who are also Richard's former friends. Richard and Anthony camp at an abandoned farm above the town, their reminiscences of childhood interspersed with flashbacks of Anthony's torment at the hands of the town's youth, and Richard's subsequent revenge on them.
