Information AboutDevry University |
|
DeVry University is a For-profit system of full and part-time Career College s and Technical College s in the United States and Canada offering a variety of Associate's Degree s, Bachelor's Of Arts or Bachelor's Of Technology degrees at the undergraduate levels up through Master's Degree s, and which programs are generally geared toward persons already in the work force like some 3,000 such similar institutions in the United States. The school is a for-profit institution operated by the publicly-held corporation, DeVry Inc. and traded on the NYSE under the symbol DV . These programs are parallel in quality and by accreditation to evening course offerings around the United States by the large number community colleges and evening course offerings by many major traditional colleges and universities. The Private University operates on a Trimester course schedule and, if taken full time year round, a person can graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in about three years or so (depending on the major). ACCREDITATION AND EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
This focus, especially dominant after the upheavals following World War II makes their graduates highly sought after for entry-level positions by primary-education schools, business, health-care and technical oriented industries; frequently at the expense of traditional four year student-applicants, as these bachelor's graduates are more job ready and require less than the typical one to three years of post college on the job training to perform to acceptable levels typically needed after exposure to the unreal world of academia. It is thus quite wrong to dismiss them with the disparaging ephititet ''trade schools'', which are institutions which focus solely on skills and pay no attention to the broader liberal arts. Students of a fully accredited four year college on the other hand will find better long term prospects in application for graduate and post-graduate level education as well as eventual upper level management tracks. DeVry University is fully accredited by The ( 5 ), with a majority of its engineering technology programs accredited through [http://www.abet.org ABET] the recognized U.S. accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. The same entity accredits technical programs at the traditional institutions listed in the introduction. Its main programs of study (and degrees) are Business Administration (BSBA), Computer Engineering Technology (BSCET), Electronics Engineering Technology (BSEET), Network And Communication Management (BSCT), and other technology (chemical & biochemical engineering) related studies. In addition, they have recently formed a Biomedical technology department inconjunction with the extant nursing programs. Other offerings include business, office management, and para-legal specialties.
