David Crutcher owns a small business called Ramatek Inc. a company he founded in 1994. The specializes in detecting engine wear in heavy machinery by analyzing the composition of motor oils. His Calgary office was used by the Alberta Alliance to coordinate the campaigns of the candidates in south Calgary. David ran for the Alberta Alliance Party in Calgary Egmont , his campaign was managed by Craig Chandler , and was one of four candidates in Calgary heavily backed by the Progressive Group For Independent Business . David had the best showing of all the Alliance candidates in Calgary by capturing 15% of the vote. David is currently on the council for the P.G.I.B. as the National fundraising chair. Aside from the P.G.I.B. David is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta, Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, The Institution of Mechanical Engineers The Institute of Marine Engineers, Member of Concerned Christians Canada Inc. and the Conservative Party of Canada. At the May 28th convention, that took place in Calgary and coincidently enough, in Calgary Egmont , David formally announced his intentions to seek the Alberta Alliance leadership. He is also retaining his campaign team, managed by Craig Chandler . He was one of four candidates seeking leadership, and the only one from Calgary. The other candidates were Paul Hinman , Ed Klop and Marilyn Burns . Despite a strong campaign, he was eliminated from the race on the second ballot, losing to both Hinman, the eventual winner, and Burns. The leadership convention was held on November 18 to 19, 2005.
