HISTORY Early Years Cricket was brought to Denmark by English Railway engineers in the 1860s . The first official tournament, under the jurisdiction of the Danish Ballgame Union, took place in 1890. {Link without Title} International Cricket starts The Danish national team first engaged in international competition in the late 50s/early 60s, playing the Netherlands, Scotland and Ireland on a semi-regular basis. ICC Membership Denmark became an ICC associate member in 1966. Along with the Netherlands , they were the first European member of the ICC, other than England. The modern era The modern era has seen Denmark continue to play international matches against regional rivals, as well as participate in all but one ICC Trophy. In 1989 they played host to the in 2005, but were not invited to participate in the newly restructured tournament from 2006.
