Information About

Daniel Goleman

Before coming into the public eye with his books on Emotional Intelligence, Goleman had many years of experience writing for the New York Times and editing its science page, specializing in psychology and brain sciences.

After the publication of his first book, Goleman founded the Emotional Intelligence Consortium, to continue his research, and published several other books in this area. Further, he enhanced his emotional competence framework (as of 2002 ) by dividing his competencies into 25 abilities. On his Web site, he shares his framework, bibliographic references on emotional intelligence, courses, and strategies devoted to enhancing emotional intelligence, Emotional Intelligence Tests , and so on.

There is also a critical review of Goleman entitled "How he misled the public; Notes from his books; Copies of some his articles, Notes on his background" available at http://eqi.org/gole.htm

Many people have over the years, questioned Goleman's affiliation with corporate training companies that teach EQ to employees on a hugely profitable basis by retailing the principles of EQ as a recognized science, and selling his tests, and course materials.
