The DE-9 ( 9 Pin D-shell Connector ) is a type of D-subminiature electrical connector most commonly used for the RS 232 port on the IBM AT and compatible computers. This connector format was also used for the Monochrome Display Adapter , Color Graphics Adapter , and Enhanced Graphics Adapter video cards. The mouse and joystick for the Apple II and Amiga computers also used this connector, as did the gamepads for the Atari , Sega Master System , Sega Genesis and Amiga CD32 game systems.
