Among the ancestors of the Czechs are ancient Slavic Tribes who inhabited the region of Bohemia from the 6th Century onwards. They used to be called in English at least until the beginning of the 20th century, when the term was gradually replaced by the present one.
A small number of the inhabitants of the former province of Moravia on the east of the country consider themselves as members of a distinct Moravian nation or Ethnic Group . They speak Moravian dialects of the Czech language.
