Its principal monument is a medieval castle dating from the period of Norman - Swabian rule in the Kingdom Of Sicily . Its cathedral is the see of the bishop of the diocese of Conversano- Monopoli . Conversano breeds black horses with Arab blood, strong ram-like heads, short backs, broad hocks, that are in turn used to breed Lippizan horses (Lipizzaner).
