Word processors differ from ordinary text editors. There are certain guidelines which text editors must fulfill in order to qualify as a word processor. For instance WordPad would not qualify. The basic guidelines include: spell checking (automatic preferably), and some web design capability, graphic editing capability, word art, tables, chart, formatting layout and ease of use when creating documents which will make the word processor a much preferred choice over a text editor for some people. LyX , for instance is much preferred when creating documents involving mathematical notations and scientific notations which are otherwise non-existent or a pain with other word processors. The word processor of choice depends on the users interest, some of which might include designing ready to go HTML documents. Some differences are easily outlined with a table. Other information is subjective, such as ease of use, user friendliness and perceived intuitiveness which depends on the users experience. WORD PROCESSORS
