The college first opened its campus on Pittsburgh's North side and the Boyce campus in 1966 . The following year, the South Campus branch and in 1972 a campus North of Pittsburgh was opened. The college also has a number of centers in various locations throughout the county in an attempt to reach the community. CCAC offers more than 170 programs, and during the 2003-2004 Academic Year , had over 79,000 students enrolled. Through a number of articulation agreements students are guaranteed admission and the recognition of courses at a number of institutions offering Four Year Degrees . In 2005, the college went through a financial crisis, and college president Stewart Sutin has faced criticism from college professors and county commissioner Dan Onorato for dropping classes while increasing administrators' salaries by double digit percentages. Also, under Sutin, the college paid the closing costs of a home for newly hired Vice President Brian Johnson, an unusual practice for colleges.
