Colin Hay

Colin James Hay (born June 29 , 1953 ) is a Scottish -born Musician who made his mark in the 1980s as a member of the Australian group Men At Work .

Colin Hay was born in Saltcoats , Scotland. He moved to Australia at the age of 14 with his family. In 1978 , Hay met Ron Strykert and started an acoustic duo. Hay and Strykert became Men At Work after the addition of Jerry Speiser, John Rees, and Greg Ham. The group produced their debut album in 1981 , '' Business As Usual ''. Following the break up of Men at Work in 1985 , Hay released several major label solo albums, including ''Looking for Jack'' (Columbia) and ''Wayfaring Sons'' (MCA), to limited commercial success.

Hay is the uncle of Zero 7 singer and solo artist Sia .

TRIVIA

Hay's music has appeared in multiple episodes of the NBC Sitcom '' Scrubs '', starring Zach Braff . Episode 1-24 featured the song "Beautiful World"; 2-01 had Hay himself playing his acoustic version of the Men at Work song "Overkill" while following J.D. (Braff's character) around the hospital; 2-13 ended with the staff singing Hay's song "Waiting for My Real Life to Begin"; 2-22 finished the second season with Hay's "My Brilliant Feat"; in 3-13, Braff sang part of the Men at Work hit " Down Under "; and 4-17 included Hay singing the '' Cheers '' Theme Song ("Where Everybody Knows Your Name"). His song "I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You" appeared in the 2004 movie '' Garden State '', also starring Braff. On the second episode of ABC 's '' What About Brian '', Hay's song "Waiting for My Real Life to Begin" was used.

In December 2005 , Hay and Lady Heather Mills McCartney digitally re-released "My Brilliant Feat" as a charity single as a tribute to the late footballer George Best , who passed away on 25 November . Proceeds will go to the Donor Family Network , supporting Organ Donor families and promoting organ and tissue donation. The single is available on ITunes with a bonus Music Video tribute to Best.
