The network also owns a subsidiary, Service Centers Corporation, which provides shared branching services for more than 250 credit unions sharing more than 2,056 branches. The corporation was founded in 1975 by five Detroit -area credit unions to minimize costs associated with having their own branches. They opened the first shared Credit Union Family Service Center in Riverview , Michigan . As Of 2006 , there are 23 such centers operated by SCC in Michigan, Maryland and Virginia . EXTERNAL LINKS
