Christopher Fry was born Christopher Harris (Nickname: Kit) He took his maternal grandmother's maiden name and he became a distinguished '' in 1938 (on Saint Cuthman Of Steyning ), '' A Phoenix Too Frequent '' in 1946 , '' The Firstborn '' in 1946 , '' The Lady's Not For Burning '' in 1949 , '' Thor, With Angels '' in 1949 , and '' Venus Observed '' in 1950 . Beginning in the 1950s, many of his plays were adapted for the screen, and he wrote or collaborated on several screenplays, including '' Ben-Hur '' and '' Barabbas ''. REFERENCES
