HISTORY

The Cessna 182 was introduced in 1956 as a Tricycle Gear variant of the 180 . In 1957 , the 182A varient was introduced along with the name Skylane. Later models have added more powerful engines and bigger windows.

Beginning in 2005 , Cessna began offering the Garmin G1000 Glass Cockpit as an optional upgrade to the Skylane.


MODEL HISTORY

  • 1956 - First introduced

  • 1957 - "A" model introduced, plane first called Skylane.

  • "C" model - added swept tail & third side cabin window

  • "E" - cut down fuselage & "omni-vision" wrap around rear window

  • 1977 - RG - added retractable gear

  • 1973 - enlarge fin fillet

  • "R" - turbocharged model

  • "S" - resumed production in 1996
