Central Java ( of Indonesia . The administrative capital is Semarang . It lies on the island of Java , between the provinces of East Java and West Java . Historically and culturally, Yogyakarta is also a part of the Central Java region, but it is a separate political entity. Some regions in Central Java such as Surakarta (Solo) and Banyumasan have their own special identity based on their history, culture and language/dialect and traditions. The population of Central Java is 30,851,144 ( 2000 Census ), making it the third most-populous province in Indonesia.
