Catullus 2b




Catullus 2b is a poem fragment by the Roman poet Catullus . It has commonly been attached to the end of Catullus 2 , but recent scholars tend to make it a separate poem based on a lack of thematic and grammatical connection between the two. The Meter is Hendecasyllabic .

The poem refers to the myth of Atalanta , the swift huntress who would only marry a suitor who could beat her in a race, and was bested by Hippomenes when he distracted her with Golden Apple s.
