Information About

Carlos Colon

Carlos Colón (born July 18 , 1945 in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico ) better known in the Puerto Rican Professional Wrestling circles as '''Carlitos Colón''', is considered by many to be the greatest wrestler ever from Puerto Rico . He is also of African decent.

Colón became popular during the 1970s , a period when his promotional company, Capitol Sports Promotions , used to have a wrestling Television show each Saturday and Sunday on WAPA-TV . He wrestled during a time where other stars like ''Los Super Médicos'', ''Los Invaders'', ''Chiki Starr'', ''Barrabas'', '' Macho Man Randy Savage '', Ric Flair and others wrestled in Puerto Rico.

He was the WWC World Heavyweight champion in Puerto Rico several times, and in 1983 , after losing a fight to the late Bruiser Brody , he required hospitalization because he became gravely injured. News of his hospitalization made the covers of El Vocero and El Nuevo Día newspaper. Two weeks later, he beat Brody in a rematch.

On January 6 , 1983 , he defeated NWA World Champion Ric Flair in a "unification" match to win the title and also create the WWC Universal Heavyweight Titlebout it never made it to NWA TV. He lost the title back to Flair on January 23 , 1983.

In 1991 , Colón had a brief participation in the WWE , then called ''WWF''. After this, he decided to temporarily retire from professional wrestling, and now, helps train his sons, Carly Colón a.k.a. Carlito and Eddie Colón who have become wrestlers. He also has a daughter Stacy Colón .

He sports over 70 scars on his forehead, and has said publicly that he wears them as awards given to him because of all his fights.
