Information About

Cardiff Rfc

Cardiff were the first team to play with seven backs and eight forwards, previously teams had lined up with six backs and nine forwards. The club therefore played an important role in the early development of rugby and helped move the game away from a game of pure physical confrontation to the game of skill and flair enjoyed today. They built a reputation as one of the great clubs in world rugby largely through a series of wins against international sides. South Africa and New Zealand have been beaten by Cardiff. Australia have failed to beat them in six attempts.
Today the Arms Park hosts two Cardiff sides. Cardiff Blues take part in the Celtic League , Anglo-Welsh Cup and Heineken Cup . Cardiff RFC take part in the Welsh Premiership .
