In addition to providing news to Newspapers , TV and Radio , CP is the largest provider of Internet news in Canada. Through a longstanding partnership, CP and BN also distribute Associated Press (AP) and Associated Press Television News (APTN) material to the Canadian news media. AP and APTN distribute CP and BN in the United States. The Canadian Press is a private Cooperative , owned and operated by its member newspapers. In addition to news and information, CP publishes the ''Canadian Press Style Guide'' (commonly referred to as ''CP Style'') which is considered the chief Style Guide for Canadian journalists and is updated periodically. CP Style has gone through a number of changes over the years; for a time, CP Style was a hybrid of American and British conventions in terms of spelling and word usage, but beginning with updates in the late 1990s, CP Style has moved closer to British conventions, such as adopting the "-our" spellings for words such as "colour" (which in American style is spelled "color"). Since 2004 CP has partnered exclusively with CCNMatthews. CCNMatthews can offer exclusive access to CP’s Wire Network and Photo distribution, and to PRDirect’s self service distribution and Media monitoring through First Alert & Command News.
