Information About

Canadian Junior A Hockey League

The Canadian Junior A Hockey League (CJAHL), an association of Canadian Junior A hockey leagues and teams, formed in November 1993, emerging from the Canada West Association of Junior 'A' Hockey.

The Canada West Association had operated since 1990 and included BC Junior Hockey League (BCJHL), Peace Cariboo Junior Hockey League, Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) and Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL). The Central Junior Hockey League (CJHL) became a member of the Canada West Association in 1991-92.

Other leagues in the CJAHL today include the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MJAHL), Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL), Ontario Hockey Association (OHA), Quebec AAA Junior Hockey League (LHJAAAQ), Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL), and the Saskatchewan Junior A Hockey League (SJHL).

Former member, and co-founder, the Metro Junior A Hockey League , folded in 1998 and was absorbed by the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League.

To determine a Grand Champion, the winners of each league playdown in four regional championships -- the Fred Page Cup , the Dudley Hewitt Cup , the Anavet Cup , and the Doyle Cup . The winners of the four regionals playoff with a host city for the Royal Bank Cup to determine the National Champion.
