"Can't Cry These Tears" is a Garbage song that musically tributes to the Phil Spector ' Wall Of Sound ' style of production which he was famed for in the 60's, mainly is his work with the girl group The Ronettes . Kicking off with a dramatic drum roll, the song blasts out with chiming bells and backwards guitar over Shirley Manson 's teenage melodrama lyrics. SONG PROFILE "Can't Cry These Tears" was written and recorded at Smart Studios during the 2000–2001 sessions for '' Beautifulgarbage ''. "Can't Cry These Tears" was one of the first songs Garbage worked on during these sessions, under the title "I Just Don't Care", but was shelved for several months until the band dug it out and began working on it once again. "Can't Cry These Tears" features additional drums performed by Matt Chamberlain . On the sleeve-notes for ''beautifulgarbage'' the song is mistakenly named as "Can't Cry These Tears ''Anymore''" and on the MiniDisc format of the album the song is titled as "Can't Cry". LIVE PERFORMANCES "Can't Cry These Tears" has never been performed live. TRIVIA -"Can't Cry These Tears" has been used as background music in UK television soap opera '' EastEnders '' and on US teen series '' Dawson's Creek ''. -When Shirley Manson sang the final vocals for the song, she sung so high and powerful that she actually gave herself a nose-bleed. CAN'T CRY THESE TEARS QUOTE, UNQUOTE and Lesley Gore and the Supremes , and so have the boys in Garbage. We've always talked about taking a sound like that into a new context.
