CFB Kingston is the home station for the Communications And Electronics Branch of the Canadian Forces . The largest school on base is the Canadian Forces School Of Communications And Electronics (CFSCE). Other units headquartered on the base include the Land Force Doctrine And Training System (LFDTS), 1 Wing Headquarters (1 Wg HQ), Canadian Forces Joint Operations Group (CFJOG), and 772 Electronic Warfare Squadron . Many Canadian Forces Bases started out as Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) stations. These stations started using the prefix CFB in their name after unification. CFB Kingston did not follow this convention; the old RCAF Station Kingston has a different history and is in a completely different location. What is now CFB Kingston was originally known as Camp Barriefield after an adjacent village. Areas north of Highway 2 are generally known as "McNaughton Barracks", and those south as "Vimy Barracks". The base is the site of Canada's Military Communications And Electronics Museum . SEE ALSO EXTERNAL LINKS |
