DESCRIPTION ''Byakko'' is one of the four Gods/Holy Beasts (the other three being Suzaku , Seiryu and Genbu ) is the God of the West, presiding over the autumn season. It is also thought to be the incarnation of Metal in the Five Elements of Feng Shui and thus associated with the color white among the five primary colors. In Chinese Mythology , it is usually portrayed as the king of all animals or lord of the mountains and the God of War. It is also used in Chinese Astronomy as the name for one of four quadrants of the sky. In Japan , he is connected to the element of Air . SYMBOLISM Considered to be one of the four emblems of royalty in China. The Tiger is a symbol of protector or preserver, associated with generals of the army. This symbol of the tiger is made into a white Jade ornament and given to them. POPULAR CULTURE Byakko features as one of the four Gods in the region of Tu'Lia in the MMORPG Final Fantasy XI . He is depicted as a giant tiger, white with purple stripes. Along with he four other Gods of Tu'Lia, Seiryu , Suzaku , and Genbu he represents the influence of Chinese Mythology (and here specifically the legend of the Four Guardians ) prevalent in the Final Fantasy series of games.
