Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command

''Buzz Lightyear of Star Command'' is a name of a Disney Animated Science Fiction Adventure show. It first aired in 2000 and features Buzz Lightyear , a character who first appeared in the feature film '' Toy Story ''.

STORY

The premise of the show is that, within the Toy Story universe, "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" is actually the TV show which inspired the Buzz Lightyear toy line, and namely, the creation of the Buzz Lightyear toy, as shown by the intro sequence, done by Pixar especially for the series. In this 3D sequence we see Buzz Lightyear in Andy's room getting ready, along with the other toys, to watch the show on TV, which follows to the rest of the intro, several clips from the traditionally animated show itself.

The actual TV show follows the adventures of Buzz Lightyear and his reprising the role as Buzz Lightyear. When the episodes were aired for television, Patrick Warburton , the series' regular voice of Buzz, redubbed all of Lightyear's dialogue to maintain continuity with the rest of the series.

CHARACTERS

Star Command

  • Buzz Lightyear ( Patrick Warburton ), famed "Space Ranger" known for heroism and bravery. Like his ''Toy Story'' incarnation, Buzz's personality is somewhat tightly wound, and he's quite a stickler for procedure.

  • XR ( Larry Miller ), a short robot with many pop-out gadgets (like R2D2 ), who can store objects in his chest cavity (like Bender ). Xr stands for e'''x'''perimental '''r'''anger (or e'''x'''pendable '''r'''anger, depending on your point of view). He's somewhat neurotic, and keeps getting blown up as a running gag.

  • Mira Nova ( Nicole Sullivan ), a rookie ranger and heir to the Tangean throne, with the ability to walk through walls and read minds. (it's the ability of her planet's people to do so). She seems to have the most common sense of the group, and can at times be something of a smart-mouth.

  • Booster ( Stephen Furst ), a dinosaur-like former janitor from the agricultural planet of Jo-ad (a play on the name of the Joad family, from John Steinbeck 's The Grapes Of Wrath ),with a big appetite and lots of muscle power. Big-hearted, but somewhat simple-minded and not particularly brave.

  • Commander Nebula ( Adam Carolla ), their commander, missing a leg. Rather angry. Hates to do paperwork. Considered to be a father by XR.

  • Ty Parsec ( Steve Hytner ) is the infamous old comrade of Buzz Lightyear. The Space Ranger was transformed into the robotic '''Wirewolf''' on the planet of Canis Lunis, after being bitten by the Villain , NOS-4-A2. Appeared in two episodes, with a cameo appearance in the episode ''War, Peace, and War''.

  • LGMs, or '''L'''ittle '''G'''reen '''M'''en ( Warburton ), are small Aliens who keep Star Command in shape. (originally appeared as squeaky toy aliens in ''Toy Story'')

The Villains

  • The Evil Emperor Zurg ( Wayne Knight ), main Villain of the series. Rules his own evil empire, and wants to rule the entire galaxy. Most of his subjects are robots. His feet double as rockets and he can transform his arms into a variety of energy weapons. Despite being fairly campy (often screwing up the seriousness of otherwise purely evil statements), he's widely considered the most evil person in the galaxy, especially by the other villains.

  • Warp Darkmatter ( Diedrich Bader ), Buzz's one time partner, but now a recurring bad guy. Lost his arm after being buried in an avalanche by Zurg on a routine mission with Buzz, now works as a mercenary in Zurg's employ.

  • Brain Pods are Cybernetic brains in a vat who serve Zurg as scientists and researchers

  • Grubs, ( Frank Welker ) Zurg's equivalents to the LGMs of Star Command, more technicians and mechanics than the Brain Pods.

  • "Hornets" are Zurg's Robotic soldiers, extremely expendable (similar to Battle Droid s from '' Star Wars '') and always get vaporized in mass numbers by Lightyear's team.

  • "NOS-4-A2" ( Craig Ferguson ), is a Robotic Vampire, capable of draining any system or entity driven by electrical power, as well as turing organisms into robots. His name is a pun on the term Nosferatu .

  • Torque ( Brad Garrett ) minor bad guy with the ability to create duplicate versions of himself.

  • XL ( Bobcat Goldthwait ) Earlier version of XR, but larger and more powerful due to his rebuilding himself with stolen robot parts. Also has a red (As opposed to yellow, with XR) head.

  • Gravitina, ( Kerri Kenney ),a big-headed female villain with mental control over gravity. In love with Buzz.

  • Evil Buzz Lightyear ( Patrick Warburton ) A ruthless, pure evil version of Buzz Lightyear from an alternate reality. He was his reality's ruler, head of a vast evil empire, and was very cruel and cunning, manipulating Zurg and Gravitina (who adored him) to his own wicked ends. He is the exact opposite of Buzz in personality and demeanor, wears a modified uniform in colors similar to Zurg's, and has a goatee.

  • Team Lightyear Clones Created by Zurg to thwart the real Team Lightyear. The clones however were released from their tubes prematurely, thus are kids. Wanting to have a robot similar to XR, the kids create X-Treme.

  • ---Zzub (Cloned from Buzz) ( Patrick Warburton )

  • ---Feara (Cloned from Mira) ( Nicole Sullivan )

  • ---Blister (Cloned from Booster) ( Stephen Furst )

  • ---X-Treme (Modeled after XR) ( Neil Flynn )
