''Burnout Revenge'' is a '', ''Revenge'' boasts a number of improvements including Graphics , Physics , rival AI , as well as the ability to utilize Traffic as a Weapon (Traffic Checking).

The tracks have been improved and are now built for battling, with many alternate routes, shortcuts and obstacles. Racers can also "check" (smash from behind) all traffic moving in the same direction as them, except heavy vehicles like big rigs, buses, and streetcars. Checked traffic can even be used as a weapon against rivals once the player becomes skilled at aiming.

Other new features include 'In-race Crashbreaker' (the ability to blow ones car up after a crash to cause damage), vertical takedowns, multiple route tracks with huge air opportunities, and the aforementioned traffic checking, which allows the player to hit same-way traffic and not wreck.
To check traffic, one must hit light weight traffic (cars, small vans etc.) travelling in the same direction. With practice, this can be used to clear junctions, destroy heavy or oncoming traffic, score extra points in crash mode and even takedown rivals.

The crash mode has been tweaked to incorporate a new launch system with which to propel the car from the starting line while wind physics have been introduced that affect the in air trajectory of your car. The weight of the car accounts for more now as it plows through traffic and flies through the air (the heavier your car the less affected by wind).

The game also features an online mode for PS2 and Xbox Live. Among the new features is a new ranking system and a 'Crash Tour' mode. About a few weeks before it was released, a demo of the game was included with '' Madden NFL 06 '' for the PS2 and Xbox.

The Xbox 360 version will differ from the current-generation games. Replays can be saved and then sent to other people using Xbox Live . There will also be some updated gameplay features.
