It is a member of the Canadian Urban Transit Association . In addition, the Appleby , Burlington , and Aldershot (not directly) GO Transit stations of the Lakeshore West line are also connected. The Downtown Bus Terminal — located at 430 John Street, close to Lakeshore Road and Lake Ontario — is the main bus terminal, and the Greyhound Canada bus stop in Burlington. FARES As of February 18 , 2005 , adult cash fare is $2.35. Discounts are available to Child ren (ages 0–5), Elementary School Student s, High School students, and seniors (ages 65 and older). Instead of tickets and passes, Burlington Transit uses a ''ComboCard'', which feels like a plastic Credit Card . It can be used as a monthly pass or as a set of tickets. The card is scanned when boarding, and depending on how the card is being used, either a reduced fare rate is deducted from the card balance, or the card acts as a monthly pass. During summer months, fares have been reduced in off-peak hours, such as weekday evenings, to rates, such as a dollar, or a combo card will not deduct after three rides in a day. The provincial Minister of Transportation has announced plans to introduce the GTA Farecard , an unified Smartcard -based payment system for the entire Greater Toronto Area similar to the Octopus Card used in Hong Kong .
