British Columbia provincial highway 91 is an alternative freeway route to Highway 99 through Delta , New Westminster and Richmond . The highway was built in two sections, the first section from Delta to East Richmond in 1986 , and the second section across Richmond in 1989 . It is the highest numbered highway in British Columbia that is not derived from a continuation of a US Highway . ROUTE DETAILS The total distance covered by Highway 91 is 22 km. Starting at its junction with Highway 99 in East Delta, where Highway 91 is known as the ''Annacis Highway'', the route travels north for 2 km to a junction with Highway 10 , then north for 10 km through one interchange and one intersection, over the Alex Fraser Bridge onto Annacis Island, and through another interchange. Highway 91 then crosses the Annacis Channel bridge into Richmond, at which point it veers west. In Richmond, where Highway 91 is termed the ''Richmond Fwy''., or the ''East-West Connector'', the route travels west for 10 more km, through a junction with Highway 91A and two more interchanges, until it terminates just past its Richmond junction with Highway 99 at Alderbridge Way. ( Exit Number s in brackets are unnumbered, and are approximate kilometre points.) Delta Exit (2)- Highway 10 , Ladner Trunk Rd. Exit (4)- 64 Ave., Kittson Pkwy. Intersection (6)- 72 Ave. Exit (7)- Nordel Way. Exit 10- Cliveden Ave. Richmond Exit 11- Highway 91A , Queensborough Connector. Exit 13- Westminster Hwy . Exit (20A)- (Westbound) No. 6 Road Exit (20B)- (Westbound) Knight St . Exit (20)- (Eastbound) Knight St. Exit (21A)- (Westbound) Highway 99 South, Vancouver-Blaine Fwy. Exit (21B)- (Westbound) Highway 99 North, Vancouver-Blaine Fwy. Exit (21)- (Eastbound) Highway 99 North, Vancouver-Blaine Fwy. At this point Highway 91 becomes Alderbridge Way (an at-grade Expressway ) in Richmond . |
