Bright Noa (ブライト・ノア) is a Fictional Character from a TV- Anime series Gundam . He is of British descent and, when we meet Bright in Mobile Suit Gundam , he holds the rank of Ensign in the Earth Federation Space Forces. Bright's commands include the White Base , the shuttle '''Temptation''' , AEUG 's Argama and Neo Argama , and Londo Bell 's '' Ra Cailum ''. Bright is voiced by Hirotaka Suzuoki (Japanese), Chris Kalhoon (English dub of original series and Char's Counterattack) and Dave Kelly (English dub of Zeta Gundam). During the One-Year War , he was in service on '' White Base '' as a junior officer with the rank of Ensign. When Char Aznable attacked an independent colony, Side 7 , ''White Base'' had all its officer crew wounded or dead, leaving him as the only highest-ranking, able-bodied officer on the ship, assuming command from the wounded Captain Paolo Cassius . Bright commanded ''White Base'' throughout the events in ''Mobile Suit Gundam'', participating in decisive battles in The One Year War, including the last stand of Zeon at asteroid A Baoa Qu. In Zeta Gundam , Commander Bright defected to the AEUG to aid their struggle against the Titans . AEUG commissioned Bright as soldier with the rank of Captain, and he was made captain of the AEUG flagship, the assault carrier Argama . Several highlights of Bright's tour of duty above Argama are the attack on Federation HQ at Jaburo and Kilimanjaro, Operation Maelstrom, and the final three-way battle between the fleet of AEUG, Titans, and Axis Zeon near the Gryps Two space colony. After the battle at Gryps Two, the AEUG fleet was left crippled and Bright was the sole experienced military commander within AEUG leaders. He continued to command the Argama during Double Zeta Gundam . After the Axis Zeon was defeated, AEUG forces were integrated back with the Federation Forces, and Bright was re-instated as soldier of the Earth Federation with the rank of Captain. He was later made the commander of Londo Bell Task Force, as seen in the movie Char's Counterattack . He was rejoined by his former subordinate Amuro Ray . Both of them played critical roles during the events in Char's Counterattack when they encountered and fought Char Aznable's Neo Zeon for the last time. Bright is a loyal and dedicated soldier both in war and peace. He enforces strict military discipline and regulations, yet he never hesitate to make the morally right decision for the better of all, even if he has to disobey orders from his superiors. He showed his character in Zeta Gundam when he defected to AEUG after he lost hope in the corrupt Earth Federation, and again when he decided to act pre-emptively during the Londo Bell-Neo Zeon encounter in Char's Counterattack . He is considered to be the most experienced field commander in mobile suit warfare in space, relying on standard and reliably proven tactics rather than acts of bravados. He is often granted with top-notch military personnel and equipment under his command, but he has proven himself that he can service in unfavorable situations such as in the early part of Mobile Suit Gundam and Mobile Suit Gundam Double Zeta Gundam. Unlike Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, Bright is not a Newtype. But there is no doubt that he is one of the most successful field commander, as he has led his ships and fleets victorious in The One Year War, The AEUG-Titans/Gryps War, The First Neo Zeon War, and The Second Neo Zeon War. He marries Mirai Yashima in 0080, an eventual crew of White Base, and they have two children, Cheimin and Hathaway Noa . In the novel ''Hathaway's Flash'' which tells events after Chars Counterattack, Bright ends up in a position that no father should ever be forced into - he is forced to, as an officer of the Earth Federation military, condemn Hathaway to death after Hathaway's capture as leader of the anti-Federation terrorist group Mafty . It is inferred by some fans that Bright dies shortly after due to depression. However, ''Hathaway's Flash'' relies on the Char's Counterattack novel "Beltochika's Children," which was cancelled out by the Char's Counterattack animation, and thus it is debatable whether the novel is truly canon or not. Bright Noah is the only continuing original Mobile Suit Gundam character who appears throughout sequels Zeta Gundam, Double Zeta, and Char's Counterattack, and survives the events of Char's Counterattack.
