Brian Woods went to Cambridge University and studied Psychology for three years, from whence (to the surprise of everyone) he graduated with a First. He tries to give the impression that he doesn't like people to know this, but that is blatantly untrue. He founded and runs award-winning independent production company, True Vision . Through the company he has been awarded numerous international awards including 6 US Emmies, a BAFTA , 2 US Peabodies, The Amnesty International Documentary Award, 2 One World Awards, and 3 Monte Carlo TV Festival Awards. The company's films have been commissioned by the BBC , Channel Four , Discovery and HBO , and have been shown around the world. The primary theme is Human Rights and giving a voice to those who have none. Brian is also a founding Trustee of the Charity Care of China's Orphaned and Abandoned and a charitable theatre company. He tries (but usually fails) to do Ashtanga Yoga self-practice every morning, paints Acrylic Abstracts , and has recently discovered a modest talent for Clay Modelling . With Kate Blewett , he received the Amnesty International UK Media Awards in 2002 for Photojournalism . Also with Kate Blewett, Brian Woods created a BBC documentary, ''Kids Behind Bars'' shown on 17 April 2005 . This tough programme showed the real situation faced by juvenile Prison ers in different parts of the world and explored the problems of juvenile crime and justice worldwide. Brian Woods also co-produced ''The Dying Rooms'' with Kate Blewett. With Deborah Shipley , Brian Woods created '' Orphan s of Nkandla'', a documentary about children orphaned by AIDS . REFERENCES |
