Since its first race, which resulted in the death of driver Hugh Hamilton, the course had the reputation of being dangerous, even more so in rainy conditions. With many fast corners amid tree-lined roads, the course saw the deaths of numerous drivers until the banning of all Motorsport in Switzerland, after the 1955 Tragedy At Le Mans . Formula One events:
